Gabriel Riesco, Founder
Gabriel Riesco
Gabriel (“Gabe”) Riesco is founder of City Dog Strut. Hop on the way back machine with us and head all the way to Spain. It’s here in the mountains where you’ll find a young Gabe, growing up alongside his family’s pack of Mastiff Sheepdogs.
It’s here where he developed powerful early bonds with dogs and developed his belief that our pet friends are here to remind us to stay connected with nature. It’s a strong connection that fosters energy awareness, self control, trust, respect, patience, and unconditional loyalty and integrity — all principles that Gabe applies to his dog training and walking sessions.
Gabe comes to America
Gabe studied philosophy at UNED in Madrid before moving to Boston and completing a degree at Berklee College of Music. He arrived in New York City shortly after and embarked on a jazz career while staying connected to his canine roots. He developed quite a following in the South Brooklyn canine community where he became known as an experienced dog handler, trainer, and behaviorist who focused on a balanced relationship between owner and dog.
The support he got from the community inspired him to start and grow City Dog Strut to what it is today. In his non-Strutting time, Gabriel can be found moonlighting at various haunts throughout the city (trust us: for more than his loyal canine friends) and spends time in Brooklyn with his wife Katie, his two sons Mateo and Sebastian and their adorable dog Ralphie.
You can also rest with peace of mind. Gabe is also Cat and Dog First Aid Certified by the American Red Cross.
